Property Fire in Newcastle


Firefighters have dealt with a property fire in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Crews were called to reports of a fire at flats in Creswell Avenue just before 3.50pm on Monday May 8.

Appliances from Newcastle-under-Lyme and Burslem attended. They wore four breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

Two flats have been affected but thankfully all occupants were accounted for and no one was injured.

Crews spent time damping down and ventilating the properties. A joint fire and police investigation was carried out with colleagues from Staffordshire Police and found that the fire was started deliberately or carelessly.

Staffordshire Police have arrested a 34-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
