Enjoy a seasonal shop at the Stokie Christmas Market

21/11/2016

The popular Stokie Christmas Market is set to return to Hanley Community Fire Station on Sunday, December 4.

"Around 45 stall holders have already signed up to the market, selling a range of festive treats that will make ideal Christmas gifts for friends and family. However, we still have a few places left and I would urge traders not to miss out on this seasonal spectacular. It costs just £15 per stall or £30 for a double area which is a very reasonable price. All tables, chairs and parking spaces for traders will be included within that fee, so it is a win, win situation for traders and shoppers alike."

There will be plenty to get shoppers in the festive mood with up to 60 stalls selling Christmas crafts and perfect presents from 10am-4pm.

A range of traditional ‘Stokie’ snacks will be available including lobby with crusty bread and filled oatcakes.
Santa will also be on hand to meet and greet the children from midday and entry into the market is completely free of charge.

Money raised during the event will be split between The Fire Fighters Charity and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

CRY has been chosen in memory of Sandyford firefighter Mark Hancock, who died suddenly of an undiagnosed heart condition in 2015. Funds raised will be used to provide a screening session for local people at Sandyford Community Fire Station in the new-year.

Fire Safety Inspecting Officer Kelvin Chell, who is organising the event, said: "We are really looking forward to welcoming festive shoppers to the community fire station at Hanley on December 4. The annual event has proved extremely popular with people of all ages since it was launched in 2014 and we have managed to raise thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes as a result.
